Gulu, Uganda — The Assistant Academic Registrar of UNITE Unyama Campus, Mr. Olanya Amos, has officially guided newly admitted students of the August intake, alongside continuing students of the May in-service programme, on the structure and requirements of their academic journey.

Addressing the students, Mr. Olanya explained that the in-service programme is designed for working professionals seeking academic advancement. Under this scheme, applicants upgrading from Grade III to Diploma or Diploma to Bachelor’s degree undertake a two-year study programme, delivered through a blended learning model combining face-to-face sessions with online learning.

On the other hand, the pre-service programme admits students directly from A-level, requiring a minimum of two principal passes. This route follows a three-year, full-time study programme. Importantly, Mr. Olanya clarified that students cannot switch from pre-service to in-service once admitted.

He further outlined the university’s academic calendar, noting that each academic year consists of two semesters, with in-service students attending special sessions for face-to-face lectures within each semester.

Mr. Olanya also emphasized the strict academic requirements for progression. “No student will be allowed to sit for final examinations without completing coursework, passing assignments, and clearing tuition fees to a zero balance,” he stressed. He reminded students that school practice is an examinable component, which must be undertaken and passed.

The orientation session was aimed at ensuring both new and continuing students clearly understand the academic policies, expectations, and obligations as they embark on their journey at UNITE Unyama Campus.
