The final chapter of NTC Unyama begins students choose their last leaders!
The curtain falls on NTC Unyama voting day is here!
The atmosphere at UNITE Unyama Campus was electric on Sunday as students
turned out in large numbers to witness the nomination of candidates for the
forthcoming Guild elections. The event, filled with chants, dancing, and
blaring music, marked an emotional and historic moment for the institution, the
last Guild election for the students of the former NTC Unyama.
These students, currently pursuing their Diplomas in Primary Education,
represent the final cohorts still completing their studies under Kyambogo
University, as UNITE transitions fully into a degree-awarding institution.
The Guild
President race has attracted three strong contenders: Bongomin Alex, Tumusiime Moses, and Ochola
David Ballack setting the stage for what many describe as a tight showdown. The
Vice Guild Presidency has sparked a fierce three-way showdown, with Laker
Poshia Lhona, Okot Innocent Olanya, and Omara Jimmy each vying to capture the
student voice.
The nomination process was presided over by the returning officer, Mr.
Alex Alele, who confirmed that all candidates were duly nominated and cleared
to proceed into campaigns.
Following the official nominations, excitement spilled into the open-air
campaigns. Candidates addressed the students with promises of leadership,
inclusivity, and representation. Supporters broke into chants, danced with joy,
and filled the air with vibrant music transforming nomination day into a
celebration of campus democracy.
Voting is scheduled for Monday, September 8, 2025, at the UNITE
Unyama campus premises. For these outgoing cohorts, the election is more than
just a student leadership contest it is a farewell chapter of NTC Unyama’s
legacy, blending the old with the dawn of UNITE’s new future.
As one excited student
put it: “We are not just choosing leaders; we are writing history as the
last NTC Unyama students.”
